We were losing data with Google sheets and unable to cross-reference collection data, seed farming and overall lifecycle of seed lots. We tried a costly database used by large-scale seed farmers and it didn't meet our needs; it was slow, the interface was ancient and the workflow was not intuitive. Baserow is elegant, super fast and intuitive to use.

- Easy to deploy on self-hosted server
- API is great and well designed
- UI is good, although not as good as Airtable
- Writing Formulas is a pain (UX can be improved)
- Lookup/Rollup behave strangely with relationships
- App Builder is the future

> I believe a lot in Baserow, it's clearly not perfect yet, but it's far more reliable than Airtable for many use-cases (anything that is "backend-powered").

The product team is doing a good job, the tech team has mostly made great design decisions. Stuff could be better, but they're listening to their customers.

I like to compare Baserow to Airtable, because they're very much alike UI-wise, and are meant for the same people, those who aren't necessarily deeply technical but who know how to design a DB. It's much more simpler than Supabase/Xano, and with the recent addition of the App Builder (Beta), it will become even better and usable by many more people.
