Aspetti positivi:

Slack si differenzia dalle comuni chat, e trovo molto utile la possibilità di eseguire dei reminder relativi ai messaggi, così da ricordare informazioni importanti.

Aspetti negativi:

La versione gratuita è molto limitata ed elimina messaggi dopo 7 giorni, e lo spazio per la conservazione di allegati è limitato. Si risolve col passaggio alla versione a pagamento.

Ottimo per un Team da remoto

Commenti: Lo uso ogni giorno per le comunicazioni rapide con il team e per la condivisione di file e documenti.

Aspetti positivi:

Utilizzo Slack in azienda da un paio di anni, e lo trovo molto utile. Operando da remoto, in regime di telelavoro, mi consente di essere costantemente in contatto con il team in sede.

Aspetti negativi:

Un po' di funzioni aggiuntive nella versione free, ad esempio la conservazione delle conversazioni più vecchie.

Messaggistica strutturata

Commenti: Potenzialmente un ottimo strumento, frenato dalla difficoltà di convincere il parco utenti ad installarlo in aggiunta a WhatsApp.

Aspetti positivi:

Rispetto a WhatsApp consente di creare dei canali da utilizzare per argomenti specifici e con gruppi di persone specifici. Inoltre consente di associare ai canali la gestione dei relativi documenti.

Aspetti negativi:

L’unico importante problema è convincere tutti gli utenti ad installare anche Slack quando per la messaggistica lo standard di fatto è WhatsApp.

Best collaboration tool to use between your teams

Commenti: Before being compelled to work from home in a distributed and asynchronous environment, I didn't fully appreciate the quality of Slack. However, when faced with the challenge of working remotely (and juggling kids' schooling from home), Slack has proven to be a valuable upgrade from traditional emails and other online collaborative tools. With Slack, I have access to a one-stop-shop that allows me to receive notifications for Google Doc edits and respond to them directly from the platform, saving me a significant amount of time.

Among Slack's standout features are its channel setup, which enables the creation of focused spaces centered on specific topics, and the ability to reply to individual messages within a thread. Channels help maintain my team's focus and keep them on track, while also providing a casual space for informal conversations (via our "Random" channel). Meanwhile, threads help prevent channels from becoming an overwhelming, jumbled mess. Additionally, Slack's ability to react to messages with emojis, share messages with specific individuals, create private or public channels, and send group messages to team members creates an environment that encourages collaboration and communication in a way that feels organic and intuitive. In summary, Slack's platform provides an uncomplicated, natural space for teams to work together and communicate effectively, replacing traditional text threads, Facebook messages, and emails.

Not bad for small groups, horrible for large groups, free plan is now crippled

Commenti: Only using Slack with external teams that use them. We no longer use it with our internal teams. Their confusing threaded views is really their downfall. There are other alternatives out there that do a much better job.

Slack has a very nice, slick interface. When the workspace is not busy, it's very easy to see all the messages and figure out what's relevant for you. Very easy to setup new workspaces and channels. And basically, the key reason why we use Slack is because almost everyone is using it.

Aspetti negativi:

Their free plan is now crippled. Only 90 days of retention. On a number of free workspaces, I wanted to refer back to some info which I no longer can find. Very frustrating. Slack also implements threaded conversations as a "tack-on" feature. Not everyone uses this feature and it just causes more and more user confusion, especially in large workspaces where many messages are mixed into the main channel as well as in threads. Their threads/mentions&reactions views which are supposed to help you filter out things not relevant for you are huge messes. Their pricing plans are also very expensive.

Great communcation software

Commenti: Like I had said I really love Slack. It has made it easier to communtate with my team, share information and it actually brought us together!

I have used Slack for years now and was so excited when we started using it at my current workplace. We had tried to use other software but it never really took off as Slack has. It is super easy to use and has many different client versions. Everyone in the office can decide how they want to use it which is a hugeeeee plus! We use the free version which really is great for us. There is a limit to how many message Slack stores but this hasn't been a huge issue. You are able to create different channels which has been a great way to share important information that we have to reference and keep it organized. Slack has also brought our team together and gave us a new modern way to communicate. Also what I love is that you can really customize notifications,

I don't like how with my particular phone notifations can be delayed. It has caused a few issues where I have gotten messages 30 to 40 minutes later despite having good either wifi or ceular service. Otherwise no real issues with Slack!

Great Business Continuity Tool

Commenti: It has been a great experience using Slack. It is a valuable tool and I really like how we are able to collaborate as a team and make it seem as if we are still working together in the office.

1:1 Chat - Ability to have 1:1 conversations with team members. Useful when working on a project together. Team Collaboration - Ability to bring a project together and share with a team. Group Chat - Ability to have one area/space where the team collaborates, shares ideas, and works together to communicate issues. Bot Integration - Ability to integrate various tools and bots that can make the day easier. Ability to integrate to web conferencing tools like Zoom, Webex, Teams. Ability to create to-do lists, track time, etc. Manage Team - Great way to manage a team who is working remotely in various geographic locations.

Still trying to work around our SSO integration - This is mostly an internal bug we are trying to work on, but it would be nice if we can make Slack to work for a single sign on experience.

The best chat application.

Commenti: Slack makes team communication easy. I use it to send updates to team members, build relationships with team members (it's funny how much team culture and unity can be built on a strong foundation of memes), post polls, gather feedback on internal projects, get quick answers to quick questions, etc. Slack makes it easy to integrate, so I've used third-party integrations like HeyTaco for employee recognition. Slack makes it possible to do a significant portion of your work out of a chat app.

Slack has by far the best UI, the best organization, and the best set of features. Competing products like Google Chat (the business version of Hangouts) don't even come close. The most critical feature is being able to simultaneously log in to multiple Slack instances which each have multiple rooms, groups, etc. Slack makes text-based communication super easy.

Aspetti negativi:

It's pricey in comparison to some of the competing software (especially if your organization already uses G Suite, it may be a hard sell to move to Slack). Also, Slack literally makes me more of a slacker - it's too easy to BS with coworkers or members of other non-work-related slack groups when I should be working.

Slack is the answer to Email's poor usability

Our team adopted Slack in preparation of becoming a fully virtual, distributed company, and also as an alternative to email, which creates blind spots of knowledge within the organization. Our work has been completely transformed by adopting Slack! First, we had 100% adoption of the platform as our primary internal communications medium. Second, the transparency of information and project cycles have allowed us to be far more efficient and effective for our clients (response times, clarity of recommendations, deliverables), and finally, it has eliminated about 50% - 75% of our daily emails. A massive win!

Aspetti negativi:

While Slack has several tools for tagging information and prioritizing information, it provides limited tools for prioritization. While it's primarily a communications/collaborations platform and not a project management tool, adding ability to better prioritize certain tasks would help make this tool even more effective for a professional services company.

free instant messaging for small businesses

Slack offers free versions of it's software which were suitable for our business and therefore saved us money versus competitor instant messaging products. Slack is also GDPR complaint so ticked our boxes in terms of what we needed. The interface is also simple to use and intuitive, as well as not being too cluttered. It offers both group chats, company wide groups and personal chats. Slack also has great integration possibilities with other apps such as dropbox, or client relationship managers, which is useful for sharing information. it also allows you to create polls and share gifs etc, and has clear pop up notifications and email updates.

Aspetti negativi:

-limited naming allowances for channels (e.g. no spaces end no capital letters) which can make it hard to think of obvious names for some groups -the gif insertion is a strange system, (have to type /giphy [text] and then it will give you one suggestion of a gif and you have to shuffle if you want a different picture, rather than being able to choose) -the way of responding to a certain message and creating a new chain can be complex to some in the team

Slack manages to maintain a comfortable work-home boundary with the introduction of different channels. The ability to create "private" channels within a workspace also helps to build community. File sharing is convenient and easy to understand, and the notification settings are remarkable.
