Coding for people who don't code

Commenti: AppSheet was great for implementing small applications in the workplace, meant to be used by one person. Once the ideas started to take off, there was a lot of limitations I ran into, including price. At that point I found it more lacerative too look into other solutions and migrate my apps to another platform.

Aspetti positivi:

AppSheet is an incredible piece of software that easily integrates with Google Sheets, Excel, Salesforce, and others. Its GUI is very user friendly, and allows new/amature coders to create full web-apps with minimal knowledge. Very easy to use, and produces apps quickly.

Aspetti negativi:

Price-point, and bugs. Knowing the number of variables AppSheet has to account for in any app, there are still certain kinks that need to be worked out. Also, AppSheet is free, unless you really want to utilize all of its features. Unfortunately, once you start getting into apps that require multiple users, or creating workflows, then you start paying per user, or a tier based price structure per app. With competition quickly rising, their prices are easily beat by competitors like PowerApps.

A solid app experience, not without its pain points

Commenti: AppSheet filled a niche for us and we're satisfied with its performance. We have confidence that it can do what we need, and we look forward to usability improvements in the future.

AppSheet performs well and is reasonably quick for our users. I love that we can make the app public so users don't have to sign in. We're using it embedded in a SharePoint site, so the only users who see it are already authenticated. The app builder starts you out with some reasonably good suggestions for your data, and there are a lots of options for display. In general, the Google Material Design UI is pleasant.

Aspetti negativi:

Some column types aren't useful in certain situations. The worst part of AppSheet in our experience, however, has been the need to recreate custom formatting for each column in a table. Since this table has hundreds of columns, we really wish we could copy and past or duplicate styling.

Very simplistic and limited app design tool

Commenti: I was desappointed by AppSheet and I would recommend Mincrosoft Power Apps instead anytime.

There is almost no personalization options available on this tool. There is no way to create a minimum of complexity in the app.

The Greatest Tool for Solving Niche Business Data Problems

Commenti: I LOVE APPSHEET. It has become an essential part of my business toolkit. It's easy to start but learning to build apps that can do lots of complicated things does take time (at least for now). The community is great and if you're willing to stick with the process of learning how the tool works, you'll be richly rewarded. If you're someone that is comfortable using formula tools in spreadsheets, you'll do fine with Appsheet but I think anyone can learn to build killer apps using this tool.

I have found Appsheet to be one of the best tools for solving the annoying gaps that exist in most off the shelf business software for small businesses. After working at the same company for 22 years and being disappointed by the limitations of most 'off the shelf' business software programs, I started using app sheet as a way to supplement those tools, while still relying heavily on spreadsheets. During my tenure there, the [sensitive content hidden] would push back on my request to build more complicated apps to automate and structure all the spreadsheet tools we were using. Then, when I left and they were faced with trying to manage my cobbled together system, they asked if I could help and I was able to say that the best bet was not for me to train people how to use that system but rather really invest in building more robust application based tools. 6 months into the journey and the list of possible apps keeps growing. Here are the biggest pro's as I see it:Easy to get started, especially if you're already using Google SheetsGreat community with lots of support when you have a problemVery powerful capabilities, once you figure out how to use it. Pace of upgrades and improvements seems to have picked up since Google purchased it. Data tables can all be google sheets stored in the companies google drive. This was a big selling point when I was trying to convince my former employer to invest in bigger apps because the data would always be theirs and always be accessible.

Aspetti negativi:

1. The process of turning all the cool data into printed or .pdf reports is relatively difficult when compared to every other aspect of using the tool. 2. You'll get addicted to building apps and start saying "I could build an app for that" in almost any business conversation you have. (and in personal ones too!)

Solid tool for no-code/low-code development

AppSheet is an excellent tool for product managers seeking to create custom applications without coding. Its intuitive, no-code platform enables users to build and deploy apps quickly, enhancing productivity and enabling rapid prototyping. The integration with various data sources such as Google Sheets, Excel, and SQL databases is powerful.

AppSheet's no-code approach may come with limitations for more complex app requirements, where the lack of advanced customization and coding options might be restrictive.

good features but expensive for larger teamss

Commenti: We eventually moved on to another software because it was difficult to identify specific issues causing failure in re publishing changes.

Have good features if the App has to be used to collect data.

Does not have option to share leads with individual app users. Not very easy to create, help videos were old.

Best no-code application builder for Google Workspace customers

Aspetti positivi:

It is mostly simple to use and get set up. It integrates well with Google Workspace.

Aspetti negativi:

There isn't a great data storage solution. The built-in AppSheet spreadsheet editor has many limits on how many tables you can have. Using sheets also gives you other limitlimitationsaitons related to table linking.

Useful platform to build simple no-code apps

Commenti: AppSheet is a great tool to quickly create and share apps by simply linking them to a Google Sheet and creating user-friendly GUIs.
Other integrations with the most important platforms on the market are available as well.

Great Tool to create small apps

Commenti: I have created about 6 applications with Appsheet. As i kept on developing more apps, the time taken started going down drastically. Since my projects focus more on quick creation over more efficiency, appsheet suits my needs perfectly. as long as i am not creating a complex application, there are no issues with this app.

Aspetti positivi:

1. The App runs on any type of database at the backend. It is compatible with SQLs from different cloud platforms and even google sheets. 2. Due to the template support, after a little experience with the appsheet, you can easily create an app under 6 hours. 3. Since this is a mulit-platform tool, it works as both Website and an Android app.

Aspetti negativi:

1. The Application is a low-code platform with high level syntax. This makes the application slow to use. If the application complexity increases, the time it takes to finish certain task increases non-linearly. 2. appsheet provides limited customization. which means there is a chance you will run into problems that are just unsolvable with this program. 3. Since this is a web based application, This UI feels a bit less responsive.

Great for starting out with app development and exploring potential ideas

Commenti: As I learned more about developing an app in AppSheet I became more knowledgeable in how to add different features and workflows. We thankfully didn't need a quick, robust solution built up immediately and we were able to play with it on our own over the course of about two years to eventually get to what we needed.

I really liked starting off with AppSheet to just explore some options for a solution we needed. It was very beginner-friendly and allowed me to design a concept and then test it out without investing a lot of money for a professional custom-coded app.

Aspetti negativi:

The workflows and automations can be a bit tricky to get set up. Creating user limitations has not been super easy and I'd like to see user profiles that set permissions for different user groups.

A platform that takes the tedium out of building mobile apps

Commenti: Launching the app and aligning it to end-user demands and expectations has not been a challenge at all. Since it is a dev+hosting platform, things are very much under my control. Helpful features like cloning an entire app make discovery and troubleshooting painless. More importantly, you pay only for the actual number of users!

Aspetti positivi:

For non-techies, with some basic understanding of application software and their usecases and essential database awareness, Appsheet lets you offer practical solutions very quickly and cost-effectively. I have not seen any other platform that makes it so dumbed down.

Aspetti negativi:

There are limitations that are quite possible for a platform that is still evolving. But, nothing so much that will force you to look for alternatives.

Appsheet is very easy to use

Commenti: I work in a K12 education context, used to be a teacher for 40+ years. While I am nearing my pension, I have had an enormous amount of fun building this app.

Aspetti positivi:

The ease of use. No coding required. You can gradually build your app and learn while doing this. I found there was a gradual learning curve that met my needs and my capability.

Aspetti negativi:

Sometimes, it takes a long to synchronize. The way to correct mistakes that you make is not always obvious and you will need help. But on the other hand, the community is large enough and very helpful, so you will never have these problems for a longer period.

Skype for instant communication

Aspetti positivi:

We can work simultaneously in one screen , small window of Skype open to communicate and other windows open to read or collect information. Can do instant messaging or video calls at cheaper rate than phone calls. It's user friendly and easy to access

Aspetti negativi:

We can't save the communication at our desired location or folder like we can save the emails.

The mobile app DIY platform I returned to.

Commenti: When I was first looking for a mobile app development platform, I wanted something simple to use but powerful enough to allow me to completely customize the app to the vision I had in my head. When I first started using AppSheet it was only 7 months after they went live; at that point it was still in it's early stages and experiencing many growing pains. I found myself running into the limitations of the platform at that time and was frustrated enough I began looking around for another solution. After playing around for a few weeks, I found myself constantly going back to AppSheet and playing around more and more. I'd find a limitation on another platform that didn't exist in AppSheet, I'd get frustrated that I'd have to learn a TON of stuff for one platform and return to AppSheet again because of it's ease of use. So after weeks of looking around I realized that AppSheet was the platform I was looking for and I just had to find ways to accomplish the goals I had. Fast forward 10 months and you wouldn't believe the platform was the same. The AppSheet team publishes so many updates (almost daily) that it's hard to keep up! And their support is better than any I've seen. They've got an online community where you can actually get answers from the developers themselves. Got an issue, one of the programmers will take a look at your app and tell you what's wrong. Confused about how to get something to work, the community is filled with users who're very knowledgeable about the platform and are always willing to help a fellow user out. In the 9 months that I've been using AppSheet I've seen multiple ideas I've suggested become a reality; that's how important their user feedback is to them.... it drives the future of the platform. AppSheet is the best of both worlds; it's simple enough that anyone can make a simple app in minutes with NO coding involved, yet complex enough that you can build an entire business management system from end to end on the platform. If you're looking for a mobile app DIY platform to create a solution for a problem you have... AppSheet really is the one to choose.

Make apps easily with Google Sheets

Commenti: Really liked it, but was a little turned off by the price. I used it to inventory devices and as a staff directory (briefly) for our business.

Aspetti positivi:

Ease of creating a functional application using Google sheets as the back end database. I like that they have template applications that you can import and then customize which saves you time. Apps look great on mobile phone. Wide variety of applications and uses.

Aspetti negativi:

It gets quite pricey when you add more users to your app than just yourself. I'd use it a lot more if they expanded the amount of unique visitors to the app.

Would be great for small tracking projects

Commenti: I was trying to find a quicker way to inventory equipment to avoid having to manually count out hundreds of units at the end of every month to reconcile inventory. Trying to get my team on board with trying a new software that wouldn’t mesh with our long-existing inventory system didn’t work out.

Aspetti positivi:

I was up and running in no time! I was looking for a way to track equipment by scanning barcodes on my phone, and AppSheet was super quick to set up!

Aspetti negativi:

After the initial set up, converting the massive amounts of example data to a usable format for my project would have taken more time than it was worth for the scale of my project. For a small but long-term project or small business, it could very well be worth it!

Easily Develop Apps For Your Business

You can create your own applications for your business with less resources, both time and money. It allows you to build your own applications using your business' data and with not too complicated programming. Application design is limited and quite simple but the relatively short amount of time it takes to build an app using AppSheet makes it worth it.

Aspetti negativi:

As mentioned before, the limited customization options. Also, applications can run slowly if the user is using a not so powerful device.
