Excellent BI tool for customers looking for a budget Looker alternative

Commenti: Holistics has successfully become part of the fabric of our business, underpinning our efforts to become data driven while offering good value for money for the number of users and representing a low TCO due to low admin overhead.Coming from a Looker background, I was very familiar with its concepts of analytics-as-code, and generally we have been able to achieve everything we needed in terms of reporting. The experience can lack the polish of Looker but this is definitely fuller featured than Looker in its early days.

UI super clunky and unresponsive

The web UI. Oh my its one of the least usable UI / Web I have yet encountered. Buttons are unresponsive. Things needed done are nested deep and imagine having to traverse unresponsive elements. I have always complain to my boss on why some reports are not being tended to, Ill simply say its unusable how are you to expect me to work

Holistics helped us quickly deliver a critical user-facing dashboard

Commenti: Overall, I've really enjoyed developing reports with Holistics and the staff has been very responsive to feedback and feature requests.

Aspetti positivi:

As an analytics engineer, I was looking for a tool that allowed me a lot of data modeling flexibility and reusability. With AML, Holistics does a good job of being able to define data models and relationships using code.As a user and data consumer, I liked how intuitive it was to set up good looking dashboards with interactive features and simple row-level security policies.

Aspetti negativi:

Holistics doesn't feel "fully baked" yet and has some rough edges. I'm really looking forward to some of the more advanced parameterization and modeling features that are expected to be released with AMQL later this year. I'd also like to see some more visualization options.

Holistics is the Next Big BI Tool

Commenti: Holistics makes building 3rd party reports very efficient. It took me 2 hours to build the same report in Holistics that I took 16 hours to build in Tableau.
Also re-using that report in Holistics takes about 5 button clicks whereas Tableau would take many more steps. The tool is very extensible and reduces repetition. I am excited to see continued growth.

Aspetti positivi:

Simple setup and many options to connect your data source. The UI for building reports is extremely user friendly and also allows dynamic inputs. The data model feature is amazing: makes it easy for us to manipulate fields and transform data prior to report generation. Embed options are critical for our business and Holistics provides a great solution! Reports are repeatable with little additional effort - build and reuse is very straightforward. Overall this tool provides everything you get with other BI solutions while also being smarter, more efficient, and more extensible. They did an amazing job of building a user friendly solution that allows power users to leverage their SQL skills to make the perfect reports. Creating filters and the cross-filter options Holistics provides is a MASSIVE WIN! Removes the headache of building filters that work across an entire dashboard.

Aspetti negativi:

Design options are very minimal, you do not have any control really over the design. Some reports provide different color options, but generally the ability to brand your reports is very limited.

Enjoying our experience with Holistics after 3 months

Commenti: We are still actively building data models and creating reporting dashboards, and we are hopeful that Holistics will be more user friendly to non-technical users, which would be a huge plus for our organization.

Aspetti positivi:

We identified Holistics to replace Chartio as our data analysis and visualization platform after Chartio was discontinued as a result of acquisition. We have been using Holistics for about 3 months, and our experience is largely positive. It was easy to connect with the data sources, and there is a lot of flexibility how the analysts can configure the data via the data modeling layer as we need. When we have questions, whether it is more general about the product or a more specific feature, we have been able to get assistance from the Support team in a timely manner, which is really good for migrating to a new product.

Aspetti negativi:

In general we would like to see more ability to customize the reports on the visualization side. There are also some issues when loading the reports and refreshing the page often helps.

Reliable and User Friendly

Commenti: We have several products competing for engineering resources, and having a product like Holistics saves us the time from building the reports and dashboards ourselves.
The fact that it has a robust scheduled delivery feature, we always start our morning with reading our product metrics delivered to us via Slack and e-mail.

Aspetti positivi:

Easy setup, Intuitive drag and drop UI, schedules report delivery, and most of all the world class support team

Aspetti negativi:

Occasional edge-case bugs, mostly visual. However, they are always addressed quickly and sufficient workarounds are suggested while they are being looked into.

Great product, easy to use, excellent pricing

Commenti: I've had a good experience with Holistics, the customer support is excellent, they are constantly building up new functions (the latest being Git integration, which is super important for version control).

Easy to use software bringing BI to everyone

Commenti: We started working with Holistics as an alternative to powerBI and with the support of the Holistics crew we managed to get an extensive set of reports and dashboard up in no time. The option to email reports to multiple users is very handy.

Aspetti positivi:

It's really easy to setup and within minutes you have reports and dashboards that you can easily distribute. The support from the Holistics team is great, if you have questions or feature requests they respond quickly.

Aspetti negativi:

It is not as extensive as some other products but for most users this wont be an issue. What you do have to keep in mind is that the queries are ran on your server so it can give some pressure on your DB.

Best BI Software on the Market

Commenti: Great experience overall. Has helped our business a lot. We thought their customer support would be a problem since they are ona different time zone in Asia, but they have pleasantly surprised us with very in depth and responsive answers.

Aspetti positivi:

Features/functionality. We've tested about a dozen or so BI softwares until we finally ended up on Holistics. One of the major pros of Holistics is the features/functionality that some of the other companies do not support or they just have it implemented entirely different (in ways that just don't make as much sense). Also, their new data modeling functionality seems far better than the overly complicated data modeling layer at Looker (another company we considered).

Not a lot of bad things to say, otherwise we wouldn't be subscribed to them.

Holistics is easily adopted but feature rich

Commenti: My overall experience with Holistics has been really positive. They are transparent about their roadmap and good at progressing new features, updating the UI, and responding to customer feedback.

Aspetti positivi:

Integration with DBT was the initial attraction and demonstrates a clear understanding of where the modern data stack is headed. The UI remains simple to use but at the same time meets most use cases. Customer service is responsive and helpful.

Aspetti negativi:

Can't use the same report "widget" across dashboards

Data modeling - Holistics gives you the power of other, more expensive SQL-based modeling tools at a budget-friendly price that scales as your needs grow. In addition, it provides persistence mechanisms to a variety of destinations and integrations with other common data tools such as spreadsheet software. While some of the functionality is a bit limited, it's a great way to start analyzing data across a variety of different sources! Self-service reporting - once you've built out your analysis-friendly data models, building a variety of reports and dashboard is simple, and with just a bit of training even our non-analyst users are building their own reports in minutes.

Aspetti negativi:

Organization - there's quite a few quirks when it comes to organizing your data models and reports. A couple examples include the inability to rename data models once they've been created and the fact that all reports *must* be associated with a dashboard and can't be shared on multiple dashboards. Data visualization options aren't the most visually appealing and offer limited ability to customize.

Great fit for fast-paced teams

Commenti: Overall, Holistics is great for fast-paced teams. It enables us to quickly get and deliver data to consumers without spending extensive amounts of time on development and support of this process.

Holistics is easy to adopt and use as it is web-based. No client installation, user licenses management, additional dedicated infrastructure requirements or other clutter like that.Data sources are easy to connect, and once connection is set you are ready to create data models and visualization on top of them.Data models are built using SQL which is great for us, as it is commonly used by our development team.Holistics rolls out updates regularly and their support team is responsive and quick.

Variety of supported visualization options is not super extensive (Holistics plans to add custom built visualization functionality, which should solve this though)

Very easy to use & powerful visualizations

Aspetti positivi:

As we use it as a Self Service platform, so the main users are non-technical we needed a tool very easy to use as Holistics is. Many types of visualizations with powerful features, and in addition very professional looking. Very good customer support to ask questions when needed. They show you workarounds if needed. They are great. They are continuously improving the platform and releasing new features, so we know that what we don't have right now will be at some point :) So, in summary we are super happy to be working with Holistics.

Aspetti negativi:

Low capability of customization. What it has is OK, but It would be perfect to have more freedom. I also would like to have drill-down feature in charts

The optimum BI tool with absolutely the best customer support.

Commenti: We are getting everything we need from holistics.

Aspetti positivi:

It has an embedded dashboards feature which is saving technical team from hundreds of hours of development effort to visualize data. The maximum return time I experienced from the support team is around 2 hours. And the documentation is really detailed.

Aspetti negativi:

It is great but can have a little bit more options for data caching policies in general. It is currently only limited to individual reports.

Holistics review

Ease of use, has been instrumental in my understanding of our business (worked less than 5 months in it). Without this easy to use tool that is very user friendly i would still be grasping at straws.

Sometimes slow in updating, but this is most likely related to the backoffice (ours) that it extracts data from

Amazing product

Commenti: We used Holistics for mostly for adhoc queries to scheduled reports. Compared to competitors, the value is unbeatable.

Aspetti positivi:

The team behind Holistics was very responsive to our requests for features. Linking to and ingesting from various data sources was easy. Reports could be scheduled and delivered via email.

Aspetti negativi:

There was very little to not like about Holistics. The team was quick to respond to feature requests or bug reports.

Great BI Platform with reasonable price and continuous development

Aspetti positivi:

Holistics help us reduce time from data to business intelligence. Easily connect with our data warehouse, write SQL, set visualization settings and finished! And also it offers great "push" functionalities (slack, email, google sheet, etc) therefore our team can naturally react to our data.

Aspetti negativi:

There is room for further improvement in geospatial related features.

Holistics is useful esp in my role.

The number of reports available or can be created is very useful. On a less peak day, the report can be extracted and dowloaded quite fast.

Aspetti negativi:

The long queue when extracting reports can sometimes be a drag especially during peak usage. Sometimes when the report is generated, it takes long for it to be ready for download.

I like to submit feedback on features and this is responded to and followed up by Holistics Support.

Aspetti positivi:

- Holistics Support is very responsive. - Holistics always make improvements of its features and transparent about the roadmap to its customers - Holistics is the ultimate BI Tools that provides email reporting schedule feature.

Aspetti negativi:

- Loading query is still relatively longer than other BI tools. - Holistics UX less attractive/eye-catching

Excellent Customer Support

Easy to use and friendly, helpful support. More features are being added to the software, and I'm always keen to see what else the software can do.

Aspetti negativi:

Drill-down reports are still not very easy to be implemented. Perhaps there could be more automation in setting up similar email reports to different recipients.

Some features are still in development for Holistics V3, for certain users looking for very specific features it can be an issue (june 2020) but the support is really helpful to find workaround and come with solutions.

It is a great tool to use for visualization data
