Robust construction management software

Commenti: We are about two months into the implementation process and it has gone more smoothly than expected. Support training is super helpful in getting the team members up to speed.

Aspetti positivi:

Having the ability to track a project from a an early lead, to an estimate and proposal and through the construction and completion is incredibly helpful to have all the information on one platform.

Aspetti negativi:

The cloud based platform can have some compatibility issues with certain browsers (Microsoft Edge). It can get bogged down in the Redline planroom and takeoff features with really large files.

Great, Great product!!!

Commenti: Great experience with people working at UDA. They know what they are talking about and they have a product that you would have to pay way more to get the same features. I have been with UDA since 2013 and they have never stopped improving their product. I probably will never switch to any other product.

I like how we can display the projects on the Multi-Project Scheduling and Resource Tracking page. It allows us to easily see the workload and project progress.

Aspetti negativi:

I don't like the way the scheduling page works and we can't easily integrate it with MS Project. Updating the schedules can sometimes turn into a nightmare. Additionally, the way we input projects is not user-friendly in most cases, in my opinion.

The biggest complaint is the app it's not very friendly and not easily to access information.

COL Review

Commenti: The product is best in class and the customer support is always spot on. I never have long waits for answers and the ability to quickly reach an expert is very appreciated.

Aspetti positivi:

COL is a solid software all around. Very few softwares have the built in functionality in COL. If I was going to design proprietary software for my company, it would look and function very much like COL.

Aspetti negativi:

My only two complaints are the lack of more accounting integrations and the cap on projects. Having a few more options for third party integrations where COL doesn't have internal functionality would be a benefit.

Highly Recommend due to better communication with Owners and subcontractors

Commenti: I believe we were one of the first companies to come aboard and have learned to use the platform as a great advantage for our team.

Aspetti positivi:

We like the scheduling and estimating components of the program the best. We can have all our resources in one place and easily communicate Schedules, Change orders and Proposals to Owners, Subcontractors and Suppliers.

Aspetti negativi:

I would like to see the Lead tracking be more like a CRM where you could email your contacts and schedule automated follow-ups.

It was hard for me to change programs, but it was the best decision I could have made..

Commenti: I can tell UDA spent a great deal of time putting this program together. There are a couple things I hope they will change but the ease-of-use once you get up to speed is wonderful. I have found the customer service to be the best I have ever received.

It is packed with every tool I will ever need to manage my construction company. Also, the customer support is top notch.

Aspetti negativi:

I found migrating my projects and linking them to clients from Construction Suite was very time consuming. The calendar only migrated over two weeks from the whole year. I had to repopulate the calendar all over again.

Can't do business without it.

I really love the accessibility of all your documentation for each project. Whether it's an estimate for the bank, contracts for the homeowner, or bids from sub-contractors, it's all right there.

I purchased Construction Suite in the past. I had gotten out of the game for a little bit pursuing some other projects. Now that I am building again, I wish there had been a little more loyalty for past customers now that it has gone to Construction online. The features are still the best that I have seen.

Learning Construction OnLine

Merging UDA with our needs

UDA Construction Online, Awesome.

Commenti: I have used other management tools and platforms and UDA is by far the easiest to use. I never feel like if I need some info from the platform I am in for a 1/2 to 1 hour session to find what I am looking for.

Aspetti positivi:

Firstly I like that it is easy and intuitive to use. All of the functions are organized for ease of use and I don't have to spend lots of time (time is money) looking for the functionality that I need. Secondly, I really like that everything is on one platform. I especially like that I can look at the plans and the budget in one short session. Thirdly, I like that the project tracking is easy to use and allows for quick logging for the day.

Aspetti negativi:

My only thing that gets me is the AI assistant button is always in my way when I first open the platform.

Finally made the switch from Construction Suites to Construction On Line

Aspetti positivi:

I am not an early-adopter, and will typically wait until things are flushed out and proven. When Construction On-Line came about, I was slow, almost resistant, to jump aboard. I’ve been using Construction Suites since 2009; it’s as critical to us as AutoCAD and Quick Books, and we were very satisfied. If you are like me, and slow to change, I encourage you to jump in, I did in June 2024. The client selection tool, which allows clients to upload choices such as plumbing and light fixtures, cabinet door styles, hardware, tile, flooring, etc. has hit a homerun with our clients. They enjoy the research and selection, and feel a part of the design process. Plus, the added bonus is, it has saved our team dozens of hours by having clients spend their time researching their fixtures before we enter into pros and cons of their selections. Lastly, the client portal which provides for the client selection tool, also facilitates change order approvals, and budget reviews is brilliant. As a design-build firm, the Construction On-Line Client Portal changes the builder/client relationship, by inviting them to be a true part of the team. Since June, I now have 5 clients using the Construction On-Line Client Portal, and they love it!

One of the standout advantages of Construction Online is its centralized information repository. Gone are the days of searching through endless folders and emails for crucial data. With all our information consolidated in one place, accessing project details, documents, and communications has never been easier. This centralized approach has not only saved us valuable time but has also improved our organization's overall efficiency.

While Construction Online has significantly enhanced our operations, we did encounter a notable challenge specific to our location in British Columbia. The platform's handling of Provincial Sales Tax (PST) posed a hurdle for us, as it's not recognized within the system. This limitation required us to devise a workaround, particularly concerning the integration of QuickBooks Actuals from QuickBooks Online. While this was a manageable inconvenience, it did necessitate additional steps in our financial processes.

Project Manager

Commenti: Overall UDA is a great product. So far I mainly use UDA for estimating and scheduling only. I love how the estimates can be converted into schedules.

I loved how UDA intregrates All Submittals, COI and data in place. And has the ability to monitor their status live.

Aspetti negativi:

I really do not like the Daily logs. If I have 7 trades at our project. I have to create 7 different logs for the day to document the manpower I had on site.

Excellent Construction management software, would highly recommend

CO's online scheduling is great, I love the automatic scheuduling updates that it sends out on a weekly basis.

In order to get a feature or two that you'd like, you need to be upgraded to a higher tier which doubles or triples the price

JFL Plug Power Mechanical Engineering review

Commenti: Overall it's a great software. I have used countless apps and software that detail site information. I think the user interface is fantastic in my opinion, one of the best if not the best. I don't know how the project score works but I'm going to get more familiar. I think just doing this review has opened my world up to all these other tools that I will be using.

Aspetti positivi:

The individual who designed the site interface did a great job. The weather and latest project activity are items that I'll now open when speaking to the engineer at site. In doing this review, I found out that I can see the address of the site, which sounds simple, but is INCREDIBLY useful. If one can imagine, I am looking for a site in 2015, and there are 8 buildings owned by the same major company. It takes me say, 10-15 min finding on google maps where the site exactly is, and even then sometimes it's unclear. Using this site already saved my 2 hours just with that simple application on the main user screen while I was doing this review.

Aspetti negativi:

I think I'd like to have a "Read Me" about each particular site so that I understand what the mindset is of the individual onsite. As an example, a read me note would detail "Raymond Furr will be at site on Monday's and Fridays doing XYZ check, and uploading pictures as the equipment is installed. Feel free to upload site pictures if you have visited the site, or were sent by another party, but understand that I will review the images and may remove if aren't associated with site". This would be similar to "Jobsite Instructions", but it would be to a different audience, mainly to those who aren't on site and need/provide digital information

UDA Review

Aspetti positivi:

The ability for all team members to be up to date on the project.

Tranferring information to Quickbook does not always work

Aspetti positivi:

The thing I appreciate the most about the software is how innovative and easy it is. Everything is straightforward, you have all of the things you could ever need from the preliminary phase of a project to the punch list when you’re almost at the completion of a project. Another key element is the option to produce an itemized list of materials directly from your material take off, which I have not seen before in any software and I’ve looked at plenty!

Aspetti negativi:

I don’t particularly dislike anything about the software. The only things that really comes to mind is the pricing and even with that, the elements you’re paying for is absolutely with it! So yes, they can be a tad bit pricey but it all pays off in the long run.

Long Term Users

Commenti: We have used the program for over 12 years and there have been many enhancements that we feel help us in running our projects and bringing good communications to our team.

The program is very robust and allows us to use parts that fit our businesses well. It is critical to stay in good communications with everyone on the project team, CO makes that easy!

In Scheduling, the ability to select multiple assigned people to a single task. The program will close down speratically from time to time.
