Commenti: Decisamente la migliore macchina virtuale in circolazione e per di più gratuita. In quanto studente di Ingegneria informatica mi è stata di vitale importanza per utilizzare Ubuntu Linux come sistema operativo. Anche utile per fare degli esperimenti per i più smanettoni. Molte possibilità di emulazione di sistemi operativi anche personalizzabili e sicuramente consigliatissimo per chi vuole operare con un altro sistema operativo senza bisogno di installarlo come partizione.

Aspetti positivi:

Possibilità di emulare una quantità enorme di sistemi operativi. Possibilità di avere più macchine virtuali

Aspetti negativi:

A volte molto pesante ma potrebbe essere un problema di ottimizzazione su alcuni pc

Commenti: L'esperienza generale è buona, da la possibilità a tutti di sperimentare nuovi sistemi operativi e di poter programma su sistemi diversi senza intaccare troppo le prestazioni della macchina sulla quale è installato

La facilità di utilizzo è sicuramente uno dei punti forti, anche per chi non è molto esperto, la possibilità di usare un sistema operativo diverso da quello del PC per poter effettuare azioni differenti è una gran cosa

Forse potrebbe essere ottimizzato meglio in quanto a volte è un po' lento nel caricamento, ma niente che impedisca il suo utilizzo comunque

Bridging Real and Virtual Worlds with VirtualBox

Commenti: Overall, I am extremely pleased with VirtualBox. He can do everything that is expected of him and everything he promises, completely and properly.

What I like most about VirtualBox is that it can run smoothly and without burdening the local system. Besides, its free configurability is also a very nice thing.

Aspetti negativi:

I think my least favorite part is that sometimes there are points in the configuration settings that I have difficulty understanding.

Aspetti positivi:

Easy to deploy new machines in no mater what your original desktop system comes from; you can virtualize a bunch of Linux, MacOS, Windows machines and ChromeOS & Android too!

Aspetti negativi:

In a Windows Server environment, the Virtual machines can't start when booting the main Server OS (only after you login with Administrator credentials) and you need the help of third party programs to do that. In Linux environment is easier to deploy thanks to Cron.

Using virtual machines with VirtualBox

Commenti: I've been using VirtualBox to test different software for app and web page development and deployment. It's been really useful and easy to use.

Aspetti positivi:

It's fast and smooth, doesn't consume much resources and its interface is user friendly.

Aspetti negativi:

It got once stuck and I had to restart the entire PC, other than that, it's great.

Oracle VirtualBox: Basic OS Virtualization that needs Improvement

Commenti: Good experience but definitely would use VMWare for professional virtualization tasks.

I used VirtualBox to run Linux and Windows OSes on top of my OSX MAC for the sake of testing networking and database software and for developing client/server applications. The nice thing about VirtualBox is its free license that makes it a cost-effective choice for users who want to test with new OSes and software. The virtualization performance is decent with some lagging when testing newer versions of Linux with more advanced GUI desktops. Definitely VirtualBox has a lot of limitations that I will mention in the Cons sectionl

Aspetti negativi:

Many limitations make VirtualBox lag behind its main competitor VMWare Fusion (on a MAC) or VMWare Workstation (on Windows). The USB support is not enabled and requires a lot of configuration to make it work. The installation of the VM tools to provide a better resolution to the guest OS is also not that intuitive. This makes VMWare a much better alternative for serious developers/testers. The networking support also has some bugs especially when using the NAT network feature.

Running Virtual Machines with VirtualBox

Features to import and export virtual machines, check logs for errors, running multiple virtual machines at the same time.

Aspetti negativi:

Since VirtualBox runs virtual machines, it consumes more resources and my device got slower when using it.

Commenti: Allows me to create separate secure virtual environments for various testing and user oriented applications without being tied to any specific hardware which makes migration and distribution very easy and convenient. I've been using the system for years and have been very satisfied with the performance, features and ease of use.

Aspetti positivi:

A cost effective solution for running multiple virtual machines and OSes. Great for testing and using various operating OSes while using shared hardware. Easy to set up and maintain. Very useful for creating remotely accessible virtual environments for multiple users. Easy local and remote backups and rollback functions. Very convenient and customizable management interface.

Aspetti negativi:

The only thing that I would like to be implemented in future versions would be integrated multiple cloud platform synchronization and management but there are plenty of 3rd party applications that accomplish the year so not really much of an issue but would be convenient to have everything in a single integrated package.

Drop Box a cloud based file storage

Commenti: Drop box solved the problem when it comes to file collaboration and it is very usefull if you need to access your files anytime, anywhere with the help of the internet. You can share also the files to others.

Aspetti positivi:

It is a cloud based file storage that you can store files at the same time share it with people online and can be access anywhere if you have an internet connection. You can access drop box also on mobile devices. It can be usefull for file collaboration because other people can add or edit the files that you stored with the given permission.

Aspetti negativi:

The free trial plan gives you 2GB of storage and if you want more storage you need to subscribe on their plan like monthly or yearly which is a bit expensive, another issues I encountered was sometimes the mobile app is buggy and have a problem in syncing your files but it is normal and I will recommend drop box as one of your cloud based storage.

VirtualBox Review

What I like the most about Virtual Box is the ability to maintain two instances of virtual machines isolated from one another, That's just the best and the configuration management of the instances is just splendid.

Aspetti negativi:

I think more hardware integrated with the host machine could be worked on.

Easy to tool for testing Applications or Software

Commenti: For a Self testing at home, or a quick set up for work testing, VirtualBox is easy to get up and running on your current system without needing a bare bones system for install and setup

Easy to use UI. Easy to get start with creating the needed VM setup for your testing with Windows and Unix OSes

Aspetti negativi:

Against services like Proxmox or VMware, there is a lot that is wanted for a hypervisor. And does require a UI for most deployments for handling the VMs

Great tool for testing and running older programs

Commenti: I am very pleased with how well VirtualBox works and I use it quite often. Even privately I use it for running older Windows XP games on it!

When I have programs that only run on Windows XP or Windows 7, Virtual Box is a great way to run these applications on a safe closed off environment. Even though you are working on a desktop that would not support Windows XP.

Aspetti negativi:

It can be a little hard to set up Copy Paste and USB connections

Ubuntu in Virtualization: A Second Life for my Computer

Commenti: I've installed Ubuntu and it's running great. The data gets saved and it feels like I've got another computer right inside my main one. I chose how much memory it would use, and the performance is solid. Everything's smooth. I love that the data is kept separate from my regular PC

I love how it's such an effective software for downloading any operating system. And for someone like me, who doesn't have a super powerful PC to split the memory, a virtual machine is just the best way to go

So, the cool thing is you can toss in and arrange whatever you want, at your own pace and however you vibe with it. This way, you're not hogging all the memory or space on your computer

The only drawback is the responsiveness of the virtual machines are sometimes slow.

For operating Ubuntu on my windows machine I am using VirtualBox. It's free of cost and can be easily download from its official website. Best part is the already created VM can be shared with other users.

I haven't find anything to dislike about VirtualBox. It's user interface is straight forward. The amount of cores and ram usage can be adjusted easily.

Commenti: been using for years to build test boxes / closed networks and using it with vagrant is just so easy.

it will install on virtually any OS. Can spin up a vm and test on my laptop whilst on the go.

bit clunky at times, dependent on host, but really not much I do not like for what I use it for.
