My favorite feature is the integration between their labwork machines and outside Idexx labs straight into patient files.

There are a few features that require a right click and drop down menu that I feel would be better set to just a double click. My complaints are few!

Nothing. I find this software archaic and out of date. I do not find any features useful with this product

The reports. There is no way to specify the dates you would like to run reports for. This is a huge problem when it comes time for accounting to be done.

Great program, need better customer service

Commenti: We have been a CS client since 1999 and while we love it, we have hated it at times. The system itself is great, customer service can be lacking. It has so many wonderful features but until recently they were like easter eggs and you had to find them and teach yourself how to use them. It is a great program with lots of functionality to improve daily workflow.

While it is a robust system, Idexx doesn't do a great job at showing you all of their features and training how to use them. Especially for existing clients.

Cornerstone, Adapt or Abandon Ship.

Commenti: It was a good run! I learned a lot, I was frustrated a lot. Really, who uses TAB? I would have to print out a giant picture of the soda for new employees who were unfamiliar with the program. I can't say I miss the program and transitioning into a brand new PIMS isn't the most fun experience out there, but overall we are quite satisfied with letting Cornerstone go.

In the nearly 10 years I used Cornerstone I found reporting and boarding/scheduling features to be the best aspect of the program. Newer PIMS could definitely learn a thing or two from those designs.

Aspetti negativi:

Invoice mistakes, server issues, and LONG wait times for customer service eventually led to us terminating out contract with IDEXX and moving over to a new PIMS. We needed something more reliable that didn't go offline when the power went out. Cornerstone is a massive program and for the price and what we utilized of it, the cost didn't work for us. Cloud based PIMS are the future.

Commenti: Overall cornerstone is basically all I've ever known so I give it at 7 and a half out of 10

Having to attach records from another hospital and how they're presented and how you have to access them is kind of difficult but it's manageable once you get used to the program

That with telemedicine more used they should be working on platform to use it. We must use our app to talk to clients the save PDF into there charts. If there was a link for telemedicine would be outstanding..

There are no good options

Commenti: Communicating with clients is next to impossible. The physical exam form/function has been abandoned by Cornerstone. There simply is no physical exam form/function in the "practice management" software. There are "Breed Information sheets" available for clients but no useful forms to run the hospital. Those I am expected to generate myself -which I have tried doing and dedicate several hours every Monday to this task. With multiple calls to Cornerstone Help to design these templates for Physical exam, Surgery forms, Inpatient/Hospitalized patient SOAPS, etc, I have successfully created zero documents. I spent my entire NAVC conference a few years ago focusing on Idexx software/paperless practice sessions,
I have solicited Idexx's (Carla, I believe is the "paperless/paper lite" person) help at TNAVC (now VMX) every other year when I attend; 4 years in, after upgrading our computer system, converting everything over to Idexx Labs to facilitate integration with PM software, attending multiple Cornerstone User workshops etc, I am more convinced than ever that Cornerstone Cannot be used PROPERLY in a paperless practice.
I have visited several "paperless" practices in the area, and it can be done only if I simply give all patients the same cut-and-paste physical exam notes. Paperless? Yes. Accurate and efficient? Hardly. There is simply no place in the "record" where I can simply look back and see what went on with the last exam(s).
Very disappointed on many fronts

Familiarity - have been using Cornerstone since 2000 (Y2K scare regarding the old PSI system). Used PSI for 6 years prior to that

Aspetti negativi:

It is not designed for paperless practice. There are no easy ways to perform simple tasks. Every routine task (physical exam, writing/sending a prescription, you know those odd things that medical practices seldom have need to do) requires a "work around" which only a few select people on the Cornerstone help line can figure. Most calls are met with, "well that just can't be done with this system" or "no-one has asked that before, I will refer it to our developers and maybe it can be included on the next update".

Hi Mark, really sorry to hear about your experience and thank you for the detailed feedback. We've had a lot of practices use Cornerstone to go paperless and we'd like you to be successful there too. Just after you wrote this review you had a live training session with a Cornerstone Field Service Representative. Sounds like that went well, hope a solution is in the works!

Cornerstone vs. DVM Manager

Commenti: I really miss my old detailed reports. What used to take just couple of clicks has now turned into a long process to get the same information. The amount of time saved during close out is completely lost at the end of the month with printing individual invoices for collection accounts and my monthly in house use invoices. It's really strange that this report isn't one that would be an option for reports.

Closing out can be done while the program is being used and reports printed at any time. Our previous program would not allow any input of information during the close out procedures which limits the close out times to after hours or keeping everyone off the program while it was closing. Reports had to be printed at that time and you could only print them once which was also difficult if there was a problem with the printer. Cornerstone allows us to check in on reports throughout the day without closing out as well.

Aspetti negativi:

Printing out a detailed (itemized) monthly report of all items used in house is time consuming and tedious. We can get a list of all the invoices for the month but not a detailed one. Each individual invoice is then printed to gain this information. This results in multiple pages each with a few items on each. Our previous program you only had to select the account, reports, transactions and it would print an itemized report with all charges to the account. When asked the reps that taught us the program as well as calling the company on the phone, this was the only way to find out all the itemized charges on any account. This also makes closing out an account for collection difficult as each individual invoice needs to be printed out to itemize the account. Very long and tedious as well as a huge amount of paper used to get what used to be one simple report.

Hi Gail, thanks for the analysis of Cornerstone vs DVM Manager, nice to see how we stack up. We hear you on the value of a detailed report on monthly items, and there actually is one called the Treatment Report. It's under Equine but can be used for other patients. This would let you run the report by client ID and would give you all invoices and details. Hope this saves you some time!

Prior Avimark User now using Cornerstone

Commenti: Cornerstone is a powerful program that does many things almost everything needed for a veterinary practice. We were prior Avimark user for about 15 years since the start of windows version. Avimark is the most user friendly program I have ever used but it is limited as of a year or so ago to support true paperless use and our database out grew their ability to handle. They also had a whiteboard that was not practical or user friendly so we switched to Cornerstone. This program does handle large databases and does support paperless practice and works very well with integration of all their lab equipment, radiology and telemedicine. Because it is robust it is more complicated to master and there are so many things the program does it is difficult even for trainers and support staff to understand how do all the things paperless fully integrated practices need. It is not as user friendly and many things that are needed by paperless practices are not doable in the program. A simple need is in diagnosis listing - there is no way to describe anything about the diagnosis for example - Diagnosis of Limping - there is no way to go in and add a descriptor like left front or right rear - only Limping. Or if you diagnosed a mass - but no way of describing the location so you are left with reading through the exam to find out where the lump is. There are not many tabs on the patient records to sort the medical history to make finding inputs faster. But it has a Fantastic white board. The whiteboard that is fairly easy to use and does everything we needed. This was huge for our hospital and is badly needed in a paperless larger hospital.
Unfortunately few practices use PM software to the maximum like we do, the problems we find or deficiencies that we find in the software from all these companies we have a small voice. But overall I think for a busy practice that wants a paperless practice and a excellent whiteboard feature and full integration of results with lab equipment and radiology results Cornerstone is the best.

Commenti: Cornerstone support is amazing. Easy to use and they will work with you to figure out what is going wrong. They are open to ideas for updates or changes.

Aspetti positivi:

You can have multiple levels of administrative rights and pick and choose who can have access to certain reports. Adding pets and charges are easy. Multiple people can be in the same account at the same time but only one can be putting on charges.

Aspetti negativi:

It is great in simplicity of the design but It is easy to overwrite a line and miss charges. Have to click yes 3 times to print an invoice but you can delete something easily without warning. If one computer crashes in the middle of putting on charges you can't access it from another computer, you need to wait until that computer is back up and running.

The Good and the Interesting

Commenti: Cornerstone is definitely more robust than Intravet that we tried first when we went paperless, and the ability to view most all of the client and patient info within one screen is very handy.

Cornerstone has the ability to not only keep all of your patient charts, orderly and mostly at your fingerprints on one screen, along with client information and notes. The program also has several add-on features or programs that you can integrate for lab work, wellness plans and there is a new feature coming out in the next update as well.

Aspetti negativi:

All of the Cornerstone features don't seem to "work" all of the time. When there are updates or patches to fix certain aspects of the program it seems to disrupt or "break" other features or items that worked just fine. We will experience glitches within some accounts but not others, the add-ons tend to slow the program down and tech support is not allows that "supportive" or helpful if it is outside items typically on their help menu. There are many shortcuts to the programs use too, the users just aren't made aware of them.

Commenti: able to email medical records for consults

Medical records are great for sending referral consultations. Phone support is great, but then again it should be for what I am paying them.

THIS is NOT any kind of accounting system. CS claimed "compatable with Quickbooks" Not even close. After CS. gif entries QB said I had 3x the income that my bank statement indicated. Everyone loves support. Yup they're all very friendly. When I ask them what the problem is, always get the same response "we don't know anything about QB". When I ask my QB consultant- the response is "garbage i-. garbage out". Then there is the blue circle of death. All peripheral computers are hard wired. We timed the blue spinning circle/"not responding" one day: 10 seconds here, 12 seconds there. Totaled 72 minutes. This is a 1 man practice. I'm sure the big guys can absorb this cost, but tough time justifying the wasted time and the additional cost my accountant included figuring out how to deal with the end-of year numbers. Would have been better off investing all that money in Bitcoin 2 years ago and cashing out last December. could been chillin' on an island instead of watching the blue circle of death go round and round and round and.....

Commenti: I would like to be able to go online and list enhancement requests. The way it works now, I have to call support, tell the representative what I want and ask them to put in the request - and hope they actually do. Our old software had a website where you could go and list modules and enhancements you would want.

We can email from the record - but, some sections don't prepopulate the address.

Aspetti negativi:

There are too many clicks to get through every section. The boarding module is obsolete and needs to be thoroughly revamped. The pop ups need to be bigger as do the messages on the bottom of invoices. We had to create a template for written scripts - in our past software you could create a written script right in the RX section. I could go on..

This spring we release Cornerstone 9.1, which has a fresh new interface and reduces the number of clicks required to access key patient and client information. Cornerstone keeps improving how we practice.

Check-in process has the ability to print any documents needed for the appointment, so staff don't have to find handouts. In the exam rooms we can use the PVL to efficiently bill and write on medical notes during the appointment. The CVT's can then easily print anything needed to send home with the client because of the ease of creating in the client correspondence area. Behind the scenes cornerstone is capturing reminders opportunities that we previous designated so staff do not have to think about it. At check out we transfer from the PVL and add any OTC items to the invoices and check out the client. Love the vaccine tab that now tells us when important annual items were given. With multiple staff working with hospitalized pets the WB gives us information quickly when treatments were and what is come due.

Aspetti negativi:

I wish the reports had less clicks to build. Some click seem redundant. Wish we could arrange the check in sheet to what we feel is most important to show up on the 1st page. Patient alerts should NOT be printed on the last page.

Cornerstone review

Aspetti positivi:

I like most all features of CStone. I think the medical record keeping is very detailed.

Aspetti negativi:

The Boarding Module is outdated and disjointed. It does not fully integrate into CStone, in my opinion. It is not intuitive and could be SO much easier if CStone would put some time into revamping. I have tried to learn and implement Whiteboard but this too seems more complicated than it needs to be and is not very intuitive.

OK to use, could be better

Integrated diagnostics, the way the daily schedule is presented

Aspetti negativi:

This may be the way our practice has it set up, but as a paperless practice for the last 3 years, I find the charting in this system very cumbersome and feel it could be streamlined. There are too many different reports to open and close and a lot of repeat info to enter. This does not feel efficient, and after 3 years, I still sorely miss the simple paper charts we used to have. Now there is more information stored for every patient, and sure, that would be great if needed in a lawsuit, but data entry takes longer and I feel I see fewer patients and am more stressed in the process. Again, not sure if it is the software or the way my practice chooses to use it.

Overcharging for any customer service with the program.

Commenti: We purchased this software program for around 30,000. Prior to purchase we were not made aware that if we have any problems with the program we would have to pay $170/15 min or several thousands of dollars a year for service. Though I am sure this is in the contract somewhere it was not mentioned prior to purchase. However we chose not to participate in the service agreement and have only had small glitches here and there. However our program got hacked and as a result we had an IT guy come in to clean the system and restore our network. Come to find out that Cornerstone at the time of installation was suppose to leave a disc with out system so we could restore but they did not so in order to restore the program we had to contact their service. This particular computer had already had the system in place but needed to be restored. After several attempts by several technicians it was finally accomplished and our technician informed us that they kept making him repeat the same thing over and over again until they figured it out how to get it downloaded. Also was enlightened to find out that Cornerstone had already had 30 clients or so also hacked and made the comment that anyone who had not changed the initial passcodes used during installation appeared to have been the targeted and accessed. I then received a bill for over $2200 and called them to complain that my IT would not have needed to call them at all had they sent me my system disc the first time and also that it showed a true ineptitude that their technicians could not get the program reinstalled to a computer that had already had the program to begin with. After waiting for three weeks for a reply from a supervisor we received a call from a receptionist instead and was told they would only discount the bill $500 for not giving us our original system disc. I find this unacceptable on several levels. This bill would not have been incurred if they had given us our original disc to begin with and also had they contacted us as a client to inform us they had already had issues of their program being hacked and that the passcodes used during installation needed to be changed and the open port to their system closed. I believe that there is no reason why they shouldn't have been able to download our program in only a few minutes and that they were negligent not informing us that their was a security issue with their system.

Aspetti positivi:

Very user friendly. Very flexible, no matter what you need to do, there is usually a way to do it in Cornerstone. If you can't find it, just call. Very fast response and issue resolved with one call.

Aspetti negativi:

Was used to using Better Choice before we got Cornerstone. Wish CS would pop up a message that client record was in use on another screen without appearing to be open. Too many employees disregard the message and because it looks like record is open, they try to add to it which causes problems. Have found a way to deal with this, but wish CS did not even allow it to happen. That was how it was with Better Choice.

We put a lot of work into making it flexible and easy to use, and it means a lot to know that's helping the team at Kilgore. Please share your suggestion regarding the message about the client record being in use by another user the next time you call in to Customer and Technical Support. We review every piece of user feedback, and put dozens of user-requested features into every new release.

Cumbersome Product to Use

Commenti: I’d appropriately trained on how to use Cornerstone, it could be a fantastic program but it is challenging in its current form.

It has a lot of functionality and if you know how to use the software appropriately, it can do a lot.

Aspetti negativi:

It’s very cumbersome. There is a very steep learning curve to working in Cornerstone. There are always multiple ways to do something which makes it challenging to teach a new employee how to use the program.
